The Fremont County Soil and Water Conservation District is now offering a variety of trees and 
shrubs for sale for the spring of 2008. To insure availability please return order form as soon

Northern Pecan: (Carya Illinoinensis) Grows to a height of 70 to 100 feet with a spread of 40 to 75 feet. 
Hardy shade tree is ideal for lawns because it does not shed its leaves until late fall. Moderate water requirements.
Bears edible nuts in 12-15 years. Immune to the attack of insects.
Black Walnut: (Juglans nigra)  Has massive, upright spreading, open branches. Makes a wonderful shade tree.
Moderate water requirements and is tolerant to drought.
White Oak: (Quercus alba) Is pyramidal in youth and then develops broad crown with age. A great majestic 
long lived tree. Grows at a moderate pace with very little maintenance. Reddish-brown in the fall. Tree from which  
the phraseThe Mighty Oak was coined
Pin Oak: (Quercus palustris) One of the faster growing oaks: it can grow 12 to 15' over a 5 to 7 year period
It has pyramidal, dense, pendulous lower branches. Moderate water requirements. Transplants well.
Bur Oak: (Quercus macrocarpa) Fairly slow growing, an impressive crown with a massive trunk. 
Long lived majestic oak tree. Yellow to brown fall color. Acorns in ten years. Tolerant to urban conditions.
N. Red Oak: (Quercus rubra) Mature spread of 70' and a mature height of 60'. Rapid and vigorous growth.
Important shade tree in the landscape industry. Major timber tree. Brick red autumn color.
Persimmon: (Diospyrus virginiana) Attractive edible fruit ripens after first frost. Small fragrant flowers in spring.
Used as food by a wide variety of wildlife and humans. Fruit begins in year six.
Black Cherry: (Prunus serotina) Typically growing 50-80' tall with a narrow-columnar to rounded crown.
Also know as wild cherry it is the largest of the cherry trees. Profuse spring blooms. Commercially valued wood.
