CALL TO ORDER:  

A meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners was called to order by Chairperson Phil Wing at 7:00 p.m. on June 1, 2010 at the USDA Building, Sidney, Iowa.

 

PRESENT:   

Commissioners: Mark Kilpatrick, Harold Mitchell, Sheryl Sanders, and Phil Wing

ADOPT AGENDA:  

The agenda for the June 1, 2010 meeting was adopted with the following additions:

APPROVAL OF MAY 4, 2010 MINUTES:

42-10     The minutes of the May 4, 2010 meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners were approved as presented. The motion was made by Sanders, seconded by Mitchell and passed with all in favor.

 

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT:

43-10     It was moved by Sanders and seconded by Mitchell to approve the Treasurer’s report of the Fremont Soil and Water Conservation District. Motion carried unanimously.

BUSINESS:

Ř  Peggy Hirschberg Terrace Project

                Another letter was received from Ms. Hirschberg; a copy to Brian Gross, a copy for the commissioners, and a copy was sent to Cathie Graves, Field Rep for IDALS-DSC expressing her dissatisfaction with the way the project was handled. She also stated that she has no intention of sending the $9.00 check to the Fremont County Recorder to file the maintenance agreement. A letter was sent to her on May 5, 2010 indicating the Certification page had been approved and faxed to IDALS-DSC for payment processing. The terrace project is complete and Ms. Hirschberg has been paid by IDALS-DSC for the eligible cost-share for this project.


 

Ř  Maurice (Bud) King Memorial

44-10     A motion was made by Mitchell to give a $50.00 memorial in memory of Bud King. The motion was seconded by Kilpatrick and passed unanimously.

 

Ř  Commissioner Vacancy Procedure

                The procedure to fill a SWCD commissioner seat was reviewed. Because Bud King’s term will expire this year it was a recommendation from Cathie Graves to postpone filling the position at this time and make sure there will be someone on the ballot for the November election. Grebert is to send a news release about becoming a commissioner to the media for publishing.

 

Ř  Fremont County Fair Barbeque

45-10     Sanders made a motion to donate $250.00 to the Fremont County Cattlemen to co-sponsor the Fremont County Fair Barbeque to be held on July 22, 2010. Kilpatrick seconded the motion that passed with all in favor.

 

Ř  Awards

                Nominations for the 2010 awards were discussed.

 

Ř  Golf Tournament

                The Fremont SWCD golf tournament will be held July 16, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Plans were discussed.
