CALL TO ORDER: A meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners was called to order by Chairperson Darwin Bugg at 8:00 p.m. on June 3, 2008 at the USDA Building, Sidney, Iowa.
PRESENT: Commissioners: Darwin Bugg Harold Mitchell Phil Wing Staff: Kevin Brannen, Lucas Forney, and Tammy Grebert
ADOPT AGENDA: The agenda for the June 3, 2008 meeting was approved as presented.
APPROVAL OF MAY 6, 2008 MINUTES: The minutes of the May 6, 2008 meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners were approved as written.
APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT: 24-08 It was moved by Mitchell and seconded by Wing to approve the Treasurer’s report of the Fremont Soil and Water Conservation District. Motion carried unanimously.
BUSINESS:Ř Fremont County Fair Barbeque Fremont County Fair will be July 16 – 21, 2008. The Fremont County Cattlemen/Fremont SWCD sponsored barbeque will be held on July 17th. Fremont SWCD will contribute $250.00 sponsorship toward the barbeque as they have done in the past.
Ř Awards
Ř Cost-share Rates 25-08 A motion was made by Mitchell, seconded by Wing to increase all state cost-share rates by 10% across the board. Motion carried with all in favor.
Ř Compliance Concerns were expressed regarding the inconsistencies of noncompliance issues. Giving good faith year after year, sometimes to the same producers gives a bad name to the district. How can the procedure be improved? Is the list of tracts to review available to the board?
Ř Hound Dog A200 Repair Invoice 26-08 An invoice for $1,675.13 from Fremont County Engineer for pipe materials to repair Hound Dog A200 structure was presented for payment. Wing made a motion to approve the invoice for payment. The motion was seconded by Mitchell and passed unanimously.
Ř Iowa Public Television A letter from Iowa Public Television was received requesting an additional contribution. No action was taken.
