CALL TO ORDER: A meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners was called to order by Chairperson Darwin Bugg at 7:00 p.m. on April 1, 2008 at the USDA Building, Sidney, Iowa.
PRESENT: Commissioners: Darwin Bugg, Chairperson Harold Mitchell Sheryl Sanders Phil Wing
Staff: Brian Gross, Kevin Brannen, Lucas Forney, and Tammy Grebert
ADOPT AGENDA: The agenda for the April 1, 2008 meeting was adopted with the addition of the following: Loess Hills Alliance Meeting Update Fee for Filing Maintenance Agreement Amendments Welcome Center Update
APPROVAL OF MARCH 4, 2008 MINUTES: 15-08 After review, the minutes of the March 4, 2008 meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners were approved with the following correction:
Emergency Plan Brannen gave an update on A-200 M-1 emergency plan.
APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT: 16-08 It was moved by Mitchell and seconded by Sanders to approve the Treasurer’s report of the Fremont Soil and Water Conservation District. Motion carried unanimously.
BUSINESS:Ř CDI Annual Conference Silent Auction 17-08 Mitchell made a motion, seconded by Wing to spend approximately $50 for something to donate to the silent auction at the CDI annual conference. Motion carried with all in favor. Triple K Manufacturing, Sugar Clay Winery, Simply Primitive, and Evelyn Birkby were names mentioned that may have items with Fremont County background to include in the basket.
Ř EPA Grant Final Report 18-08 Forney presented the EPA Final Report. A motion was made by Mitchell to accept the EPA Final Report. The motion was seconded by Sanders and showed all in favor.
Ř Hound Dog A200 Brannen has met with the contractor and the county engineer regarding the work on A200. He has also met with Rod Finnell, operator and discussed the work plan.
Ř Loess Hills Alliance Meeting Update Gross reported that Loess Hills Alliance has committed $15,000.00 for the Private Lands Conservationist position with Mills County. Pursuant to approval of the financial agreement from both Mills SWCD and Fremont SWCD, the position will begin July 1, 2008.
Ř Amendments to Maintenance Agreements 19-08 A motion was made by Wing, seconded by Mitchell to pay the filing fee for two maintenance agreements (H. Charles Brooks and Paulyne Miller) that were filed with incorrect legal descriptions. Motion passed unanimously.
