CALL TO ORDER:

A meeting of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners was called to order by Chairperson Darwin Bugg at 8:00 p.m. on April 3, 2007 at the USDA Building, Sidney, Iowa.

APPROVAL OF MARCH 6, 2007 MINUTES:

The March 6, 2007 minutes of the Fremont Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners were approved as written.

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT:

21-07 It was moved by Mitchell and seconded by Wing to approve the Treasurer’s report of the Fremont Soil and Water Conservation District. Motion carried unanimously.

BUSINESS:

Ø Picture of 2007 Commissioners

A picture of the Commissioners was taken for the annual report. Forney will interview Maurice King for an article of the annual report.

Ø Stewardship Materials

22-07 Wing made a motion to pay $28.70 to Page County SWCD for the stewardship materials. The motion was seconded by King and passed with all in favor.

Ø CDI Challenge – Donation to NACD

23-07 A motion was made by Mitchell, seconded by King to donate, through CDI, $50.00 toward NACD repairs to the headquarters building in Washington, DC. Motion passed unanimously.

Ø CDI Resolution Process

Resolution process was discussed and may work on one to do with zoning ordinances in the Loess Hills.

Ø Two Rivers Quarterly Report

24-07 After review of the Two Rivers Quarterly Report, a motion was made by Wing to accept the report as presented. The motion was seconded by Sanders and showed all in favor.

Ø Website Update

The website is back up and was reviewed. Nelson was acknowledged for the work on the website.

Ø Contractor Meeting Update

The contractor meeting was held March 27^th. Three contractors were present.

Ø Region 8 Spring Meeting Update

King, Wing, and Bugg attended the Spring Regional held in Red Oak, sponsored by Mills County SWCD. Topics were bio-mass, ethanol production, and erosion in development areas.

Ø Fencing

The fencing materials can be picked up anytime. It was discussed to put up fencing by the water control structure at the Outreach Education Center to prevent driving over and damaging it. The gates would be used and there was discussion how much would be used in order to reimburse the watershed.

25-07 Wing made a motion to put up the gates where best decided by staff. Mitchell seconded the motion and all were in favor.

Ø Visitor Center

A volunteer dinner will be held April 14, 2007. Doug Doty and 4-H members will help with 150^th anniversary of ISU Extension. Sheryl gave an update on the portal.
