Text Box: Summary of Two Rivers Project and
	Two Rivers Project II:
The Fremont County Soil & Water Conservation District will hire a full-time wetland specialist to coordinate the Two Rivers Project. The specialist will administer and promote the numerous wetland programs available to landowners. They will partner with the other organizations and agencies to provide technical and financial assistance in the restoration and creation of wetland habitat. The specialist will facilitate numerous outreach efforts including the publication of a quarterly newsletter, brochure, and several informational meetings. The scope of work is divided into seven work elements.
Text Box: Project Performance Report for 4/1/06 to 6/30/06
Text Box: The Spring of 2006 was very busy for the Sidney Field Office staff. The district employees spent much of their time planning for annual outreach activities, which all went very well. Fremont County also received enough rain to replenish the wetlands that had dried during the fall and winter. The rains have been scattered through the month of June to put the county just under its average rainfall levels. It looks like most of the county’s wetlands will be dry for the fall migration for the third straight year.

Easements:
Andrew Rasmussen: this wetland owner received the Fremont SWCD Wetland Manager of the Year award for his dedication in improving his land. He first created 20 acres of shallow water areas by removing 12 to 18 inches of soil. He also planted 50 acres of native grasses and forbs with the Fremont SWCD native grass drill. He then planted 8.5 Text Box: acres of trees by hand, and has spent most of the summer maintaining these areas. The NRCS has also designed two water control structures to be installed later this year.
Handy Farms Inc. has recently completed 8 acres of conservation cover. Most of the easement acres were seeded to a stand of switchgrass in previous years, so this 5 grass mix will add some needed diversity to the wetland.
Kenneth Wurtele: completed nearly 20 acres of shallow water excavations in May. Surrounding these shallow water areas is a 2000 foot dike to hold this water late into the summer months. Through the dike, the landowner has installed a water control structure that will release the water downstream during high-flow situations. The area drains nearly 500 acres of Missouri River
